Born from the visual language of Abu Dhabi, the Covent Garden Abaya brings together contemporary tailoring, architecture and one of the United Arab Emirates’ most treasured traditional crafts.
The Covent Garden Abaya draws part of its design language from Wahat Al Karama, one of Abu Dhabi’s most distinctive architectural landmarks. Its monumental forms, composed of structures that lean into and support one another, provided the inspiration for the intersecting geometry found within the abaya’s statement cuffs.
Bint Saeed translates this architectural reference into textile through alternating bands of black and gold-tone Al Talli, creating a graphic composition across the sleeves. Recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, Al Talli is a traditional Emirati weaving craft passed through generations of women in the UAE. Here, its application creates a dialogue between two expressions of the Emirates: contemporary Abu Dhabi architecture and inherited craftsmanship.
The result is a detail that carries the landscape of the city into the garment. Architecture becomes line, line becomes textile, and textile becomes something that can be worn.
Cut in an elegant A-line silhouette and fully lined with soft crepe, the Covent Garden Abaya falls fluidly from the shoulders and moves beautifully with every step. It is designed for weddings, official occasions, elegant gatherings and evenings that call for something distinctive.
The shoulders are finished with epaulettes and Bint Saeed’s signature gold-tone Knotted Line buttons, another house code inspired by connection, lineage and the paths that bind one generation to the next.
A detachable statement sash completes the design. Finished with Al Talli detailing and the Bint Saeed gold-tone Monogram pin, it can be draped from the shoulder or styled diagonally across the body, allowing the silhouette to take on a more ceremonial character.
Available in Deep Black, Burgundy and Navy Blue, the Covent Garden Abaya can be worn over the Covent Garden Dress or Hampstead Dress to create a complete layered look.
Like every Bint Saeed abaya, it can also be personalised with the house’s signature hidden inner label. Add a name, date or meaningful message to create a detail known only to its wearer.
From the architecture of Abu Dhabi to the hands and traditions that have shaped Emirati craft, the Covent Garden Abaya expresses what lies at the heart of Bint Saeed: carrying the visual culture of the UAE forward through contemporary design.

Why is the Covent Garden Abaya one of Bint Saeed’s defining creations?
Every fashion house has the piece that defines it. For Bint Saeed, the Covent Garden Abaya is one of those creations. Bringing together contemporary tailoring, art, and Emirati craftsmanship, it was created for women who appreciate exceptional design, meaningful details, and timeless elegance that remains relevant beyond seasons.
What makes the Covent Garden Abaya different from other abayas?
The Covent Garden Abaya was never designed to follow trends. It was created to become a lasting part of a woman’s wardrobe. From its refined structure and distinctive shoulder detailing to its clean finishing, hidden side seam pockets, detachable statement sash, signature gold-tone Knotted Line buttons, and Al Talli woven cuffs, every detail has been carefully considered. The difference is something you’ll feel the moment you put it on. The way it falls. The way it moves. The way it naturally changes how you carry yourself. Like every Bint Saeed abaya, it can also be personalised with the house’s signature hidden inner label, making each piece uniquely yours.
What is Al Talli?
Al Talli is one of Bint Saeed’s signature House Codes and one of the United Arab Emirates’ most treasured traditional Emirati artisanal crafts recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. Traditionally handwoven by Emirati women using fine metallic threads, it has adorned women’s garments for generations. At Bint Saeed, we reimagine the use of Al Talli through contemporary design, allowing this remarkable element of Emirati cultural heritage to be worn and appreciated by women around the world.
Where can I wear the Covent Garden Abaya?
The Covent Garden Abaya was created for weddings, official occasions, elegant gatherings, formal dinners, cultural events, embassy receptions, and celebrations where making a lasting impression matters. Its contemporary silhouette moves effortlessly beyond the Gulf, making it equally elegant in Abu Dhabi, London, Paris, Brunei, Toronto, and wherever women appreciate timeless elegance, exceptional craftsmanship, and meaningful design.
Can I personalise the Covent Garden Abaya?
Yes. Like every Bint Saeed abaya, the Covent Garden Abaya features the house’s signature hidden inner label, where you can add a name, date, or meaningful message. Whether marking a personal milestone, celebrating a special occasion, or creating a treasured gift, it becomes a discreet detail that remains close to you every time you wear it.
How should I care for the Covent Garden Abaya?
To preserve the beauty of your Covent Garden Abaya, we recommend professional dry cleaning only. As the abaya is finished with Bint Saeed’s signature Al Talli trim, a delicate traditional Emirati craft woven with fine metallic threads, it should be handled with care to maintain its beauty and craftsmanship for years to come.
